About B.K. Bass

B.K. is an author of science fiction, fantasy, and horror inspired by the pulp fiction magazines of the early 20th century and classic speculative fiction.

He is also a freelance editor with experience both as a publisher and editor-in-chief of a literary journal. When B.K. isn’t dreaming up new worlds to explore, he spends his time as a lifelong student of history, bookworm, and film buff.

B.K. is also an avid worldbuilder. With over twenty-five years of experience in crafting worlds for both fiction and tabletop role-playing games, one of B.K.’s favorite parts of the creative process is forging spectacular backdrops for his stories.

Of particular interest to B.K. is delving into the particulars of various sub-genres of speculative fiction. As a student of the craft, he has researched and assembled a variety of Genre Studies right here on this website. When it comes to his own writing, deciding on a sub-genre to explore is at the heart of his storytelling process. From the dark fantasy of The Ravencrest Chronicles to the post-apocalyptic military science fiction of What Once Was Home, B.K. endeavors to dabble in a wide array of different styles and formats to explore the breadth of what speculative fiction has to offer.
